ROME (ITALY): OCTOBER 19 2019; 10:00am-7pm (including coffee breaks and lunch break)
SUITABLE FOR: Singers, actors, singing teachers, spoken-voice teachers, speech therapists.
LEVEL: Both beginner and advanced
WHAT ESTILL IS NEEDED FOR:
All Estill exercises, including work on vocal qualities, can be applied both to the singing voice and to the spoken voice.
EVT can teach actors and singers to improve the effectiveness of vocal production, better manage the effort of performance, optimize muscle work and the role of breathing, vary the tones based on the character or style, lighten or darken the voice, clean it or “dirty” it, increase or eliminate the nasalization to “characterize” a character, increase the projection, audibility and volume of the voice, control all the structures that contribute to the production of vowels and consonants in order to work on a more conscious diction and easily master the accents of different languages, of different dialects (and sociolects), and much more.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
In this EVT special topic workshop the general principles that guide Estill Voice Training will be introduced (work management and muscular effort, separation between art and mechanics, etc.) and then the exercises for control of the different structures that contribute to voice production and resonance, and their mix in different vocal qualities, will be presented.
Participants will experience the possibilities of voice using strategies and devices that refer to everyday life experiences.
Particular attention will be given to the application of these principles, sounds and postures of the vocal tract to performance, either in acting or singing. We will examine the possibilities of using the Estill options in different styles of singing and acting, with specific advice on the management of different voice qualities both from a muscular and artistic point of view.
The workshop will also present several effective solutions to the most common vocal problems encountered in different styles of both acting and singing, easily usable by performers and voice and singing teachers.
At the end of the day some volunteers can work individually on a monologue or a song with one of the teachers presenting the workshop.
