SUITABLE FOR: Singers, actors, singing teachers, spoken-voice teachers, speech therapists.
LEVEL: Both beginner and advanced
WHAT ESTILL IS NEEDED FOR:
All Estill exercises, including work on vocal qualities, can be applied both to the singing voice and to the spoken voice.
EVT can teach actors and singers to improve the effectiveness of vocal production, better manage the effort of performance, optimize muscle work and the role of breathing, vary the tones based on the character or style, lighten or darken the voice, clean it or “dirty” it, increase or eliminate the nasalization to “characterize” a character, increase the projection, audibility and volume of the voice, control all the structures that contribute to the production of vowels and consonants in order to work on a more conscious diction and easily master the accents of different languages, of different dialects (and sociolects), and much more.
After a general introduction to the Estill model, strategies will be presented to effectively apply the 13 figures for voice control and the 6 voice qualities taught in EVT.
Starting from the different stylistic needs of the 3 musical genres on which attention will be focused (pop, musical and jazz), the technical tools provided in the Estill model the teachers will provide the students with the technical tools taught in the Estill Model and considered most suitable to achieve the specific aesthetic and artistic goals required by the 3 genres, in a continuous interaction that respects the individuality of the students and their stylistic choices.
We will work on the structures that are considered most important to control in the different genres, on the most suitable voice qualities and on their management according to the repertoire and the musical genre, with practical experiences and targeted exercises.
At the end of the day some volunteers can work individually on a monologue or a song in an open coaching session with one of the teachers of the workshop.
